Allergy filters such as the HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filters filter the pollen, dust and airborne allergens that cause allergy symptoms. In order for the allergy filters to work indoors, you need to keep doors and windows closed. You defeat the purpose of using the filters if you do not keep the house closed up. The HEPA filter does reduce allergic certain reactions in allergy sufferers. Primarily HEPA filters work best for people who have dust, pollen and dust mite allergies. You do need to keep the filters clean and operational in order for them to be beneficial. You may need one for every floor level of your home to work properly. Allergy filters such as the electrostatic filter is said to work just as well as the HEPA filters, but that remains to be seen. Allergy filters although are not the solution to the problem. You still have to have the proper humidity in your home, this is with a dehumidifier or a humidifier. The temperature of your house as well as how you clean your house are also important. If you combine these steps with the use of a HEPA filter, you can have an allergy free house. This is so important to allergy sufferers. The electrostatic allergy filters had people concerned about the ozone production, but since the practice of using charcoal filters, the concerns have been minimal. If you want to try a different type of filter, there is the filters that are placed over the ducts in your home. Although these need to be cleaned weekly, it is not sure just how effective these filters are towards people with allergies. It is going to be a matter of preference as to the type of filter you use. It may be easier to use duct filters, but if they do not work properly, you could have to spend money on a filter such as a HEPA filter. Do allergy filter actually reduce allergic reactions? The answer is both yes and no. The answer will depend on the type of allergy you have, the severity of the allergy you have and the type of filter you choose to use. People have to determine the best type of filter and then make sure to use it continually to clean the air from airborne particles that can trigger an allergic reaction.
