A lot of people have allergies and do not know that they have them. Often times people are allergic reactions flare up during the fall and spring seasons. Many times they attribute their coughing and sneezing to the common cold. Since they have never been tested by an allergist they do not know if it might be an allergic reaction instead of the common cold. If you are having allergic attacks during the night and you have a down comforter on your bed, you might have an allergy to down comforters. However, most people do not realize the connection they think they have a cold. During the summer months they do not have an allergic reaction during the night. Have an allergy test performed at your allergy doctor’s office If you are coughing, sneezing, or have worse symptoms, at night, when you’re comfortably laying in your bed, it could literally be anything that’s causing your discomfort. It could be the dog or cat hair on your pillow or bed covers. The lovely blooms of the flowers in your bedroom add a nice touch to the room’s décor; however, you might be allergic to the pollen. Only by being tested by an allergist can you determine if you have an allergy to down comforters. What if you’re insurance does not cover allergy doctor or worse you don’t have any health insurance? If you can’t afford to see an allergist, try switching bed covers for a few nights. If you replace your down comforter with a regular bed spread, and you wake up in the morning feeling great, without any allergy symptoms, then you may have an allergy to down comforters. The allergy to down comforters comes from an allergy to the down feathers that make the down comforters so soft. This down isn’t just found in comforters, however, it can also be found in pillows and other things made for the bed that are designed to be as soft as possible. But I love the softness and warmth that my down comforter gives me. If you have replaced your down comforter and you don’t experience any allergic reactions, you have an allergy to down comforters. All is not lost you don’t have to give up on down comforters completely. There are synthetic down comforters you can get that will help you sleep comfortably at night without exacerbating your allergy to down comforters. These imitation down comforters are made of synthetic materials such as spun polyester that won’t cause you to have a reaction but are still soft enough that you will not notice the difference. Of course, people buy down for many reasons, such as super soft and extremely warm without feeling heavy like a pile of blankets. Synthetic down comforters have a slightly different feel than down comforter, but you’ll get used to it. The trade off is waking up in the morning without having all of the sneezing, coughing, and watery eyes. Just because you have an allergy to down comforters does not require you to suffer through the night to enjoy the benefits of down comforters. By making a few changes and keeping a positive attitude you can enjoy a peaceful nights sleep snuggled under a soft warn down comforter. |
