Your Guide To Feline Allergies |
|
|
Your guide to feline allergies is very understandable. Unlike pollen levels, ragweed and dust mites that cause allergens, people who are around cats or felines in general can experience an allergic reaction. This is generally from the fur, although it can also be because the cats, who roam outside, can bring other allergens into the house including pollen, grass allergens and other airborne allergens. As for the feline’s fur, it is actually the saliva and dander from the cat fur that causes an allergy to cats. By this it is meant that the protein in the saliva and dander cause people to be allergic to cats. Here are three things you can do to control your feline allergies, they are vacuuming, air purification and steam cleaning. In your guide to feline allergies, you will see that vacuuming is the first step to stopping your allergies. You will need a HEPA filter vacuum cleaner. This will be used regularly, more likely daily to vacuum all areas of the house to pick up cat dander and shedding fur. If you do this step religiously, you will complete the first step to controlling feline allergies and still keep your cat with you. The next step is to invest in a HEPA air filter. There are different types of HEPA filters and you want one that has the ability to filter the air and take the airborne allergens out of the air. You will want the filter to filter the air night and day, therefore, a quality filter is needed. You also need to remember that extra filters might be needed depending on the type of HEPA filter you buy. You can also use duct air filters, but they are not as dependable for feline allergies and may not be sufficient. Your guide to feline allergies also mentions a steam cleaner. This of course, has nothing to do with the cat, it is used to remove dander, deodorize and disinfect carpets, furniture and beds. Wherever the cat spends time should be steam cleaned to prevent triggering a feline allergy. Using these three steps for allergen removal, you and your cat should be able to live together. You may also talk with a doctor about taking a medication to control the allergies or maybe a home remedy can be used to control your feline allergies. These are some ways to prevent allergic reactions if you have a cat in your home. |
