Is There a Dog for People With Allergies to Dogs?

Dogs have been known as man’s best friends. Most all dog breeds vary in their loyalty and desire to please their owner. Some breeds such as a Labrador have an intense desire to please their owner and thus are easily trained.

It is really sad how some people are allergic to dogs and believe that they are unable to own a dog because of their allergies to dogs. When ever they get around a dog their eyes begin to water, nose begins to run and they begin to sneeze frequently. There are two main things that people are allergic to dog fur and dander that sloughs off their skin, much like dandruff in humans.

If someone has a dog allergy will they forever be unable to have a dog as a pet? Not necessarily true. An allergy test will confirm what they are allergic to and help narrow down the selection of dog breeds that they can have and enjoy the companionship of man’s best friend without going into a sneezing fit every time their pet is around.

Miniature Pincher

For people who are allergic to dog fur, long haired dogs are worse than short haired one. The miniature pincher breed looks like a mini Doberman pincher. This short haired dog is considered a ‘toy dog’ because the tallest the breed gets at the shoulder is twelve inches. Minpins are extremely affectionate and devoted. Because of their short hair they make an ideal dog for people with dog allergies.

CockAPoo

Have you ever heard of a CockAPoo? As strange as the name sounds it is a mix between Cocker Spaniel and Poodle. Because of its poodle background this dog breed does not shed so it makes an excellent pet for people who are allergic to dog fur.

Poodles

Poodles make excellent dogs for people with allergies because Poodles don’t shed. This makes them especially great for people who can’t be around dogs because of allergies. And it’s also for this reason that many people breed Poodles with other breeds of dogs to make more breeds of dogs for people with allergies. This is great news for those people who have always wanted a dog but just couldn’t because of their allergies.

Ask your local pet store if they have any dogs for people with allergies. Just because you have an allergic reaction to dogs doesn’t mean that all dogs will affect you that way. Research breeds of dogs for people with allergies and choose one fits into your family the best.

There is nothing like the companionship of a dog, whether it be big or small. A dog is loyal, it’s protective and it’s man’s best friend. If you have allergies and this has prevented you from being able to have a pet, don’t worry, there are dogs for people with allergies and there’s one waiting for you right now to come and adopt him or her.

The most important thing when you are looking for a family pet is to select a breed that does not shed. When a dog sheds it will release both dog hair and dander both of which will really exacerbate your allergies. You can find dogs for people with allergies; you just have to know where to look for them.
